Pienezza's Disclosure-2004/2005
MATH DEPARTMENT POLICIES
1. All Work must be done in pencil We sell pencils for 10 cents. Proceeds are used to buy more pencils.
2. Homework policy is set by individual teachers but there are some general guidelines: a. homework is not accepted unfinished.. b.Cyprus HS math teachers have asked us to make sure students show steps when they do problems. Brockbank teachers will honor this.
3. Some assignments are done with calculators and others not.
We all have classroom sets of calculators for our students to use. Students
are welcome to bring their personal calculators to class. We recommend
a basic scientific calculator. Because of theft, we do not encourage students
to bring expensive calculators such as graphing calculators.
4. Students are required to have their math books covered.
Paper bags are usually the best covers.
5. Most teachers in our department will have students keep a
spiral notebook in class that journal questions and warm-up problems may be
done.
6. Tutoring is available for all math students from 7 AM until 7:45 AM in relo 1. Mrs. Pienezza will tutor any math student. There is no appointment necessary. Some teachers give extra credit to students who choose to use this resource.
7. To allow students to learn from others by giving and receiving feedback and to help math teachers use time efficiently, we will sometimes have students correct each other's homework. The teacher will correct all tests. At no time will students be asked to call out scores.
