(1st Term) 2008


9th grade Earth Systems


During this first term students will be learning about time and space and the evidence scientist use to understand the origin of our universe. Students will understand the life cycles of stars and how their deaths allow heavier elements to be distributed within our universe. Students will then understand the tools astronomers use to look at the formation of solar systems (including ours) and the source of our star and how this energy makes life on Earth unique.
Current Event is due on September 19th. "Find article dealing with space."
Electromagnetic Computer-website homework due October 3rd.
Connection Sheet due on October 17th.
Project will be due October 27th. Due to the high points, students will most likely receive a low grade if they do not turn in a project. The requirements will be handed out after midterm.


8th grade

Integrated Science
In this first term students will learn about the different kinds of energy and how they can be converted from one form to another. One of the biggest topics being discussed in today's society is energy and how to obtain energy for our children and grandchildren. Therefore, students will explore their own energy uses and understand the source of our current energy "fossil fuels" and how alternate energy and technology may help our society become energy independent.
