Text Box: WHAT IS AN SEOP?
An SEOP is part of the individual planning component of a comprehensive counseling and guidance program. This meeting serves as an intervention process focused on helping students to better navigate the school system, to progress toward meeting graduation requirements, and to plan for success for today and for the future. As a key component of the guidance program, it provides a structure wherein counselors meet individually with each student in their caseloads and involve their caregivers in the individual planning process at least annually. The SEOP

Text Box: Dear Caregivers,
First quarter has come and gone, and we’ve had a successful start to the year! In an effort to foster the collaboration process between school and home, we would like to invite you to participate in your child’s Student Education and Occupational Planning (SEOP) meeting. You may be familiar with the elementary Student Education Plan (SEP) process; however, now that your student is in junior high, in addition to planning your student’s academic pathway, we begin to explore future career possibilities. We invite you to be a part of this discussion. We will be scheduling our 8th grade SEOPs during November and December, and follow up with our 9th and 7th grade students after the 1st of the year. We will be mailing an SEOP postcard home, with an assigned meeting time for you and your child during the school day. We realize these hours may not be convenient for working caregivers; thus, if you are unable to accommodate your assigned time, please e-mail or call our comprehensive guidance assistant-Traci Pritchett-and we will be happy to arrange another time and/or format for our meeting (TPritchett@graniteschools.org, 385-646-5145). Thank you for your vested interest in your child’s future, and we look forward to meeting with you.
			Sincerely,

			Lisa Ballash	and Beckie Bradshaw
