Welcome to Ms. Ardi's Classroom!

This year we are hitting the ground running from day one. This year we are lucky enough to have not only Geography for Life and Honors Geography for Life, but we are the only Jr. High in the district to be offering AP Human Geography! this is a college level course for students in High School and an amazing opportunity for the school and our incredible Churchill students! Last year the district sponsored this as an after-school, not for credit course. The pass rate was 70%, which is amazing. I am sure this year will be even better since we have real class-time!

A Little Bit About Me

I have taught at Churchill Jr. High for several years now, and I LOVE it. I honestly have not even kept count of the years since it is such a great place to be. Churchill has a great student population and lots of fun activities for them to do. The students have a great attitude about school and always try their hardest. It is great to be back here again this year!

When not at school I enjoy traveling, SCUBA Diving, reading (mostly fantasy and science fiction), playing video and board games, enjoying the outdoors, swimming and spending time with my family. Most of my students are familiar with my son, who is now 8 and is in 3rd grade at Oakridge this year. If they are not familiar with him they will be by the end of the year. He begs to come to school with me so he can see "your kids" and is here in the mornings before his school starts. This summer was spent traveling to St. Louis, the school Disneyland trip, and camping all over Utah and even into Idaho.

Please feel free to use the title links below to find out more information about class and other areas of information.

Yes, there will occassionally be options for extra credit. No more than 200 points of extra credit will be available each term and extra credit is NOT guarenteed to be available, so do not depend on it. Information will be posted on the back board as it is available. There will also be a form handed out at the begining of each regional unit. Remember that school policy states that extra credit may only be done if all other work is in. There may be the occassional exception due to absences during in class assignments and those will be handled on a case by case basis.

Europe Extra Credit

Geography for life Why Geography? Not only is it a required course, but it is useful, too. As I tell the students, we need to know not only where places are in the world, but what they are like. Increasingly events in other parts of the world are having a more immediate affect on us in our daily lives.

Honors World Geography This course is similar to the standard course. However, there will be a few variations in pacing, assignment depth, and classroom discussions. Click on the link above to see the added assignments the Honors class has above and beyond the regular assignments.

AP Human Geography

As mentioned above we now have AP Human Geography. Human Geography is the study of how people influence and are influenced by the world around us. It is a thematic college course that looks at areas such as culture, migration, development and industry, and many other areas. Students taking this course will take the AP test at the end of the year, and if they pass, will receive college credit.
