After-School Program
General
Information about Eisenhower's After-School Program:
EJHS holds three
seasonal sessions of after-school classes: Fall, Winter and Spring. The cost of
each class per seasonal session is $10.00. See Mr. Sharpe for specific details.
After-School
Classes
Chess - Learn chess from beginning moves
to advanced techniques. Students will prepare for district chess tournament.
Critters
- Advanced system biology for 9th grade students. Study animal systems while performing
dissections. Several unique animals will be studied.
Dance
- Students will learn several styles of dance. This class will focus on helping
students improve their dance ability.
Digital Fun -
Learn new and useful ways to use digital information. Cameras, computers and other
forms of digital equipment and software will be used.
Drama
- Students chosen from auditions will perform a play and/or a musical. All aspects
of stage production will be taught including acting, singing, set design, lighting
, etc...
ECOSE - Eisenhower Consortium of Science Enthusiasts.
Students will learn science through activities and hands-on labs. Class will also
take field trips to selected science sites.
English Remediation
- Students can have a failing English grade improved to a passing grade (P) with
the help of this class. English curriculum will be the focus.
Fantasy
Stockmarket - Students will invest an imaginary $100,000.00 during a ten week
period. Prizes will be given to the students who do the best with their investments.
Games - Students will have fun learning and practicing
new and old board games. Several games will be taught and played. Strategies,
gamesmanship and fair play will be the emphases of the class.
Math
Remediation - Students can have a failing Math grade improved to a passing
grade (P) with the help of this class. Math curriculum will be the focus.
Math
Tutoring - Students can get additional help with math concepts. Class will
improve students' math knowledge.
Needle Craft - This
class will specialize in several forms of needle work. Students will learn knitting,
crocheting and other needle crafts.
Percussion - Students
will learn percussion techniques from basic to intermediate. Class focus will
be on improving students' ability in the percussion areas.
Physics
and Chemistry - This class will focus on hands-on physics and chemistry. Students
will learn forces, motion, chemical compounds and rocketry.
Reading
Class - Students will learn reading techniques and will improve their reading
skills. Class will focus on raising students' reading level.
Science
Remediation - Students can have a failing Science grade improved to a passing
grade (P) with the help of this class. Science curriculum will be the focus.
Science
Fiction - Students will enjoy an advanced look at the realms of the science
fiction world. Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings are topics of learning.
Students will enjoy games, play and field trips.
Social
Studies Remediation - Students can have a failing Social Studies grade improved
to a passing grade (P) with the help of this class. Social Studies curriculum
will be the focus.
Stamp-Camp - Stamping, card making
and memory boxes will be a few of the projects students will do.
Study
Skills - Students will learn and practice study skills which will help them
learn useful ways of studying.
