Art Classes and Information
Art Classes
Foundations in Art (Beginning Art)
8th and 9th Grade Students
"Exploring your Creativity"
Learn how to draw realistically and from your imagination.
Drawing and painting techniques will be taught resulting
in your own portraits, landscapes, animals, and 3-D art.
Crafts from many different cultures are also a part of this
class. Some favorite projects from years past are ceramic
tiles, mirror etchings, masks, and pottery. Due to the large
amount of materials used and a limited budget, there is
a class fee of $15.00. This fee will be collected in class.
Intermediate Art
8th and 9th Grade Students
"Expanding Art Creatively"
Prerequisite: Foundations in Art. Expand your skill in art
with two-point perspective and create landscapes, portraits
of your friends or self, and imaginary masks. Paint and
draw animals, still life, and designs. View paintings from
the 1600's to the 1850's. You will be using watercolors,
scratch board, pencils, printmaking, markers, clay (mugs),
and oil pastels. You will be able to use techniques learned
in Beginning Art to express your own style and with larger
paper and materials. The assignments will take more time.
Because of the large number of materials and tools used
there is a class fee of $15.00. This fee will be collected
in class.
3D Design 1 (Crafts)
8th and 9th Grade Students
"Get Caught Up In Crafts!"
Prerequisite: Foundations in Art. Are you still uncertain
about your drawing skills, yet still interested in art?
Do you want to take an art class that offers a variety of
projects and allows a lot of creativity? Then Beginning
Arts and Crafts is for you! Come experience crafts from
many different cultures. This is a semester class that will
help you learn about and produce approximately 20 multi-cultural
craft projects. Some of the favorites from year-to-year
are: pottery, ceramic tiles, mirror etchings, masks, and
tie-dye t-shirts. All projects are done in class so there
is rarely homework. Good things come from Crafts! Due to
the large amount of materials used and a limited budget,
there is a class fee of $15.00. It will be collected in
class.
Advanced Art
Freshmen Students
"For the serious artist!"
Prerequisites: Foundations in Art and Intermediate Art.
This year-long class will begin with a review of the art
elements that were taught in Beginning and Intermediate
Art. You will continue to "fine tune" your drawing
skills while being introduced to many different mediums
including charcoal, watercolors, oil pastels, colored pencils,
and others. The class will look at artwork from the "Impressionist
Period" through "Modern Art," to help you
identify and develop your own style of work and to find
out what techniques, subject matter, and materials suit
you. You are encouraged to enter your art in contests and
art shows. Grab your sketchbook and pencils and get ready
to center your attention on art! Due to the large amount
of materials used and a limited budget, there is a class
fee of $15.00. It will be collected in class.
