Journalism & Yearbook Class
The Journalism & Yearbook Class of Eisenhower
Junior High School is a year-long class--held during a regular
period or during Advisor--for highly motivated and self-disciplined
9th Grade Freshmen students. (Journalism is taught during
the 1st Semester and Yearbook during the 2nd Semester.)
Journalism & Yearbook students are responsible for broadcasting
and co-anchoring daily newscasts on KEJH News, creating
school-wide video news stories, producing the school Yearbook,
Literary Book, and the General Newsletter (which
is published on-line via the Internet), and making individual
DVD video montages. Journalism & Yearbook students also
participate in various school-wide assemblies, co-sponsor
the Freshmen Etiquette Night at the LaCaille, and help organize
and coordinate school-wide World Record attempts.
In the Journalism & Yearbook Class,
students receive academic and citizenship grades and credit based on their job
performance and the production of various projects. Because of the unique nature
of the class and its projects and responsibilities, the Journalism& Yearbook
teacher ultimately decides which students are admitted into the class. All students
who wish to be considered for possible membership in next year's Journalism &
Yearbook Class should have received a "B-" grade or higher in their
1st and/or 2nd Term English Class, and should have an overall 2nd Term GPA of
2.50 and CPA of 2.50 or higher. (Exceptions are made based on extenuating circumstances.)
In selecting students for the Journalism & Yearbook Class, the teacher gives
preference to those incoming 9th Grade Freshmen students who have demonstrated
honesty and self-discipline, and respectful behavior and high motivation during
their 8th Grade year.
It is expected that Journalism &
Yearbook Class students will demonstrate proper behavior and respect towards faculty,
staff and fellow students. Serious misconduct or disrespect towards faculty, staff
or students, or any display of dishonesty or breach of Journalism ethics will
result in the first offense leading to probation (lasting at least four weeks),
and the second offense leading to immediate dismissal from the class.
If
you would like to apply for possible membership in the Journalism & Yearbook
Class, please see Mr. Brough (Room A-8) for registration forms and further information.
