World's Largest Pan Loaf of Bread
On November 13, 1987, 200
students of Eisenhower Junior High School made the World's
Largest Pan Loaf of Bread. It weighed 307 pounds and measured
7-feet long, 2-feet 5-inches wide and 1-foot 8-inches high.
The "Mega Loaf" was baked at Bacchus, Utah, in a
huge autoclave oven used to bake casings for solid-fuel rocket
booster motors. (The previous world record for the Largest
Pan Loaf of Bread was set in 1912, when Austinite Newburg
reportedly baked a loaf of bread that weighed 162 pounds and
was 10 feet long, 18 inches wide and 18 inches high.) This
world record has been accepted by Mormon
World Records.
