Taylorsville Students Win Health Contest

The following information was edited and taken from the Deseret News of June 1, 2008: The Utah Department of Health's "The Truth campaign is honored three student groups for their winning entries in the Real Noise competition. The competition invited junior, middle and senior high students and their friends to conduct an anti-tobacco activity. Eisenhower Junior High School in Taylorsville earned first place and was honored with a free concert by the band Neon Trees, as well as $1,000 in prize money. The Eisenhower students' winning entry consisted of a game they created for the entire school. Student leaders posted anti-tobacco facts on red cards on the walls. Students were invited to take a fact from the wall and read it during lunch, then they slapped the facts over a picture of a cigarette, creating a no-smoking sign for all to see.
