Student Council Class
Hey Generals!! Do you want to ROCK THE HOUSE!??!! Do you
believe in service, and enjoy getting involved with fun
activities? If so, join your friends in supporting athletic
and school sponsored events by being a part of the Eisenhower
Spirit Team! A "Letter of Application," 3.0 GPA,
and a solid 3.0 CPA are required to be a member of the team.
No athletic or dance experience necessary-just a willingness
to serve and show a lot of school spirit!!! Eighth Grade
and Freshmen students are chosen after 3rd Term. Seventh
Grade students are chosen in the Fall.

Student Leadership Constitution
for 2006-2007

Article I: Authority
This Student Leadership Constitution and its members exist
at the will and discretion of the school Principal. The
Principal appoints faculty and staff members to serve on
the school's Faculty Council over Student Leadership (FCSL).
Members of the Faculty Council over Student Leadership are
responsible for the implementation of this constitution
and its student leaders.
Article II: School Symbols
The official Public School Colors of Eisenhower Junior High
School are red, white and black.
The official Song of Eisenhower Junior High School is "Salute
the Generals".
The official Sobriquet of Eisenhower Junior High School
is the "Generals"
Article III: Student Council
The Student Council shall consist of four elected Student
Body Officers, 4 elected Senators, up to 11 appointed Representatives,
and the Cheerleaders. All students within the Student Council
shall: a) register for and participate in the Student Council
Class (held 1st Period) during their entire tenure in office;
and b) participate willingly and positively in all activities
and eventssuch as in General's Week, monthly themes,
term service projects and officer activities--as requested
by their faculty advisor(s); and c) abide by all school
rules and show support for the school.
Section A: Student Body Officers:
1. Student Body Officers shall consist of four elected 9th
Grade students who shall serve as President, Vice-President,
Secretary and Historian.
2. The President shall be responsible for: a) introducing
and/or conducting school-wide assemblies as deemed appropriate
by his or her faculty advisor(s); b) helping with scheduling
follow through of the daily appearance of Student Council
members to serve as co-anchors on KEJH News; c) arranging
for and coordinating up to four school-wide dances (of one
per term) with appropriate music; d) assisting with student
officer elections; e)other duties as assigned
3. The Vice-President shall be responsible for: a) serving
as the Community Council student representative; b) maintaining
the large Trophy Showcase in the front hallway of the school;
c) assisting Senators in coordinating their activities with
the rest of the Student Council; d) assisting student officer
elections; f)other duties as assigned
4. The Secretary shall be responsible for: a) maintaining
accurate attendance records both in class as well as for
student activities; b) taking notes at all SBO meetings
as well as when requested by advisors. c) assisting Representatives
in coordinating their activities with the rest of the Student
Council; d)assisting with student officer elections; e)
other duties as assigned
5. The Historian shall be responsible for: a) maintaining
a comprehensive student event written and photographic b)
assisting with student officer elections c) arranging for
and coordinating, the Goodbye Assembly (which usually features
a student-oriented slide show); d) other duties as assigned.
Section B: Senators:
1. The Student Senate shall consist of two elected students
from each grade--8th and 9th Gradefor a total of four
Senators.
2. 9th Grade Senators shall be responsible for: a) attending
the Community Council meeting as a student representatives,
alternating as they see fit; b) helping with quarterly/weekly
assignments; c) judging, and arrange for the talent assembly;
d) arranging for and coordinating the year-end Freshmen
Invitation Dance; e) other duties as assigned.
3. 8th Grade Senators shall be responsible for; a) help
with quarterly/weekly assignments; b) judging and arranging
for the talent assembly; c) other duties as assigned.
4. Constitution Changes for 2006-07 Only For the 2006-2007
year only the Student Body Government class will contain
3 eighth grade and 3 ninth grade Senators. The third Senate
seat for these grades will be reserved for a student who
did not attend Eisenhower Junior High in the 2005-06 school
year. In addition, the extra ninth grade Senate seat will
be given a place with the "Big 6" student body
council.
Section C: Representatives:
1. Student Representatives shall consist of three students
per 8th or 9th grade. 7th Graders will be given 5 positions
as they will not have representation in the senate. At the
beginning of each school year, the Student Body Advisors
will choose two of the 7th grade Representatives to act
as the lead Student Representatives for that grade. These
students shall apply to be selected by the faculty and staff
of the school as directed by the faculty advisor(s) over
the Student Council and the Administration.
2. Student Representatives are determined by the scores
they receive at the portfolio day.
3. Student Representatives shall support and participate
in all Student Council and student- body activities and
eventssuch as KEJH News anchors, student body assemblies,
General's Week, weekly/quarterly assignments--as deemed
appropriate by their faculty advisor(s).
Section D: Cheerleaders/Stuntmen
1. Cheerleaders are defined as ninth grade female students
selected on the basis of portfolio and tryouts. They serve
on the Student Council and are subject to the eligibility
requirements of all student officers and are expected to
attend the student government class.
2. Cheerleaders participate in all Student Council and student
body activities. They are responsible for cheering at home
games, promoting school spirit, and any activity deemed
appropriate by their faculty advisor(s).
3. The Cheerleading Squad Advisors along with the input
of the squad will select a Head and Co-Head which will become
part of the main student body officers as an advisory committee.
4. Stuntmen are defined as ninth grade male students selected
on physical ability. Captains and Co Captains are subject
to the eligibility requirements of all student officers
and are expected to attend the student government class.
All other stuntmen must have a 2.0 GPA and CPA which is
in accordance with all athletic teams at EJH. All stuntmen
are required to work as a team in assistaing the Cheerleaders
at all school sports activities and school assemblies both
during and evening events. They will also assist the Student
Body Officers as needed.
Article IV: Student Leadership Qualifications
and Requirements
Section A: Standards and Eligibility:
1. In order to run for office all Student Council Members
must:
a. Have a GPA of 3.00 with no "F" grades, and
a CPA of 3.00 with no "0" and no more than one
"1" in citizenship grades during the term prior
to elections or selection. After the deadline for candidate
applications has passedwhich is always five or more
days after grades are officially distributed to the entire
student body--no GPA or CPA changes will be considered for
candidate qualification.
2. Upon election or selection, Student Body Officers, Senators,
Representatives, and Cheerleaders are considered ambassadors
of the school and must conduct themselves at school and
in the community at all times with respect and honor. Student
Council members must abide by all school rulesincluding
(but not limited to):
a. Maintain a 3.0 GPA with no "F" grades, and
a 3.0 CPA with no "0" grades and no more than
one "1" for both midterm as well as end of term
grade. Students will have five days after grades are officially
distributed to the entire student body for corrections.
If officers' GPA/CPA are below the standard, the student
will be placed on probation or removed from office if previously
on probation.
b. No possession or use of tobacco, alcohol, or drugs of
any kind without doctor order or prescription will be tolerated,
nor will the school tolerate the presence or use of any
of the above mentioned substances. Violation can result
in the immediate dismissal from office or position by the
Principal or Assistant Principal.
c. No threats or participation in violence, fighting or
vandalism at school or at school activities will be tolerated
d. Compliance with school dress standards while in school
and at all school functions is required
e. No sluffing or excessive tardiness. One sluff will result
in immediate probation, more than one sluff could result
in dismissal.
f. Use acceptable language and model appropriate behavior
and good manners in school, at school functions, and at
all times
g. At all times, Council members must be a good leaders,
set the proper example, and work to gain the respect of
others during the term of office.
Article V: Student Probations and Removal from Student Council:
1. Student Body Officers, Senators, Representatives, and
Cheerleaders who do not meet the academic, citizenship or
behavior requirements outlined in Article IV, will be placed
on "probation" by their faculty advisor(s) and
not allowed to participate in Student Council activities
and events until the next mid-term or term grades are issued.
Any student warranting probation more than once in any school
year will be removed from office for the rest of that school
year by their faculty advisor(s).
2. Serious violations at school, school functions,
or in the community involving criminal offenses or egregious
disregard for school rules or policies will result in automatic
dismissal. Substance abuse, fighting, gang activity, severe
non compliance, or vandalism are activities that are subject
to this clause.
3. A Student Council member can appeal a probation.
The appeal is submitted to his or her faculty advisor(s)
to the Faculty Council over Student Leadership. All majority
decisions by the Faculty Council over Student Leadership
are final.
4. Any Student Council member placed on probation or removed
from office can have his or her title and responsibilities
temporarily or permanently assigned to another Student Council
member (who may then be designated as an "acting"
officer) as decided by his or her faculty advisor(s) and
approved by the Faculty Council over Student Leadership.
