Text Box: Please take a look at the calendar of upcoming events on the back of the newsletter. We have many exciting and important activities coming up and want everyone to be aware and be able to participate. Please contact the school if you have questions concerning any year end activities.
It’s been a great year!

Text Box: It is difficult these days to pick up a newspaper or watch the television news without hearing about the difficult economic situation. As you have probably heard, the economy is effecting our public schools and Granite School District is no different. While the outlook can appear to be bleak, I want our parents to know that we are doing everything we can to minimize the impact for students at HJH. We are working hard and being successful in providing most, if not all, of the fine programs we have always offered. I honestly believe that parents and students will notice little difference between this year and next. We will continue to focus on providing the best education we Text Box: can in this time of budget constraints.
Spring is here and with spring comes our very important end of year testing. All students will be taking tests that cover the curriculum for their math, English and science classes. It is important that students do their very best on these tests and we encourage parents to support their student and the school in this testing program. Ensuring a good night’s sleep and providing a healthy breakfast is extremely helpful in allowing students to perform at their best. Attending every school day is also important during these weeks of testing. We appreciate your support during this time.

Text Box: Counselor’s Corner
Text Box: The counseling center is a busy place during the last quarter of the school year. Ms. Lee, the 9th grade counselor, is visiting with all 9th grade students to review their Progress Toward Graduation information. This allows freshman to be aware of their status toward earning Text Box: credits to graduate on time. The 7th grade counselor, Mrs. Ofahengaue, is finishing up her lessons with the CTE Introduction classes. We have completed pre-registration and are currently building a master schedule of classes for the 2009-2010 school year. This is a Text Box: complex process taking into consideration course requests, teacher assignments and class offerings. Credit recovery for English, algebra and geography are in full swing for freshmen. Please keep all your address and phone information up-to-date with our secretary.
