Text Box: Welcome, once again, to another or new school year at Hunter Junior High. As always, the beginning of the year is filled with a flurry of activities and an elevated sense of excitement and anticipation. I am happy to announce the addition of several new teachers and staff members: Michael Black, Marlissa Peake and Ann Wolsey in our resource department, Ben Johnson, social studies, Becca Linn, English Lisa Nichols, art, Jill Sundberg, math, Tiffanie White, CTE, Belinda Lee, 9th grade counselor and Donna Patterson, counseling secretary/registrar. They all come highly recommended and have already contributed Text Box: greatly to our faculty and students.
As a school, we are embarking on a journey; one that we hope will address student learning, improve outcomes and address remediation when necessary. We will be doing this through collaborative groups or Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). We will use our collaboration time to meet both as a whole faculty and in departments to look specifically at what we want students to know, how we know if they learned it, how we address those who aren’t learning and how to accommodate those who have. We will also continue to work on literacy skills Text Box: across the

curriculum. It’s an exciting approach and our faculty is looking forward to working together to meet the needs of all students.
Again, welcome back and we encourage you to participate in your student’s education as part of an important team.
Text Box: Hunter Junior High started off with a bang this year. We began the year with our 7th grade orientation on Thursday, August 21. 7th grade students had the chance to meet their teachers, student body officers, administration and Text Box: counselors, learn the school song, visit all their classrooms, practice opening lockers, learn school expectations and ended the day enjoying a free school lunch. We seem to have a great bunch of 7th graders this year. On Wednesday, Text Box: August 27, we welcomed our parents during Back to School Night. After an initial meeting in the auditorium, parents were able to visit classrooms and meet teachers. They had the opportunity to learn what their students were going to Text Box: From the Principal
