Its May and a very active month here at Jefferson. Please watch for this years final newsletter coming in the mail in the next week. We will have a calendar and information on the end of the year events. 9th grade students have a couple of events they must qualify to participate in - please take a look. We have evening performances this month for instrumental music, choral music, and dance. We have scheduled 2 nights of the dance concert with the hope of not having as much crowding.

Mid-Term is Friday May 2nd. As you know, the month of May is CRT testing. Please help us teach students the importance of these tests. CRT tests are used to determine student placement, school programs, and adequate yearly progress.
Great job to the students who performed in our talent assembly. We have very talented students here at Jefferson!

Please be sure to come and see our play "High School Musical" here on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week. It starts at 7 p.m. and the cost is $4 for adults and $3 for under 18.
Also, be aware that we are meeting with 9th grade students this week to go over our end of the year activities and eligibility requirements. Students will receive a letter from me outlining the requirements. Those requirements in a nutshell are -No suspensions 4th term -2.0 GPA - 2.0 CPA - No unexcused absences (this refers to sluffing) - All fees must be cleared in the front office - No late check ins without a parent note - Students may not have more than 4 unexcused (total) tardies during 4th term.

Time is passing very quickly this year. Today is the last day of 3rd term. There is no school for students tomorrow (teachers will be at technology training and working on grades). Monday is the beginning of 4th term. Please watch the calendars you recieve in newsletters for the final months of school. Testing and year end events are important things to be aware of. One event I want to highlight here and make sure parents are aware of is our 9th grade Lagoon day reward. This is a day during the last week of school where 9th graders (who qualify) will be able to go to Lagoon. Next week the administration will be meeting with all 9th grade students in their English classes to give them the info on Lagoon day and the requirements to be able to attend. We will instruct the 9th grade students to share this information sheet with parents. I will follow up here and in our next newsletter.

This years legislative session has come to a close and some of the education bills that passed had to do with school community councils. As you can see above, we have added a tab for information relating to our school and the community council. We will be sure to add links to our School Student Achievement Plan, Land Trust Plan, and Quality Teacher Student Achievement information. Jefferson's community council meets at 4 p.m. on the third Wednesday of every month here at the school.

We are currently in the process of getting students registration cards entered for next school year. Last week student cards were all collected. Hopefully you had the opportunity to give input into your students requests.
Reminder - Friday 2/15/08 the open window for permits to attend a school outside of your boundaries closes. If this is something you are considering for next year, be sure to get the form from any office and get it returned by Friday.
