Music Department consists of the following classes: Mixed Chorus, Concert Band, Cadet Band, Concert Orchestra, Jazz Band, and General Music.
Mixed Chorus – an audition only choir class for 8th & 9th graders. These students perform several times a year for their school & community & compete with other schools at District Choir Festival in the Spring. This class meets on A days.
Concert Band – a wind ensemble for 8th & 9th graders. These students also perform four concerts a year for their school & community & compete at District Band Festival in the Spring. This class meets on B days.
Cadet Band – a fundamental band class for 7th graders. These students also perform a couple times a year for their school & & community. This class meets on B days.
Concert Orchestra – a string ensemble for 7 – 9th grade. These students perform four concerts a year for their school community & compete at District Orchestra Festival in the Spring. This class meets on B days.
Jazz Band – an elite ensemble that performs jazz, rock & big band music. This group performs several times a year, including assemblies, pep rallies, concerts, community events, & District Jazz Band festival in the spring. This class meets during the “Advisory” period, Mon – Thurs.
General Music – a semester class for 7th graders that focuses on basic knowledge in music singing, theory, history & composition. Students will learn to sing American & World folk songs, explore music history as it pertains to culture, learn basic piano/keyboard playing skills, rhythmic compositions, and compose original compositions in our piano lab. Students in this class usually do not perform for their community, but may sometimes perform for their peers in class.
