Our Mission at Matheson Junior High is to create a safe environment, provide excellent educational opportunities for diverse learners, and encourage responsible citizenship.

the work of the school.
3. Each student is a valued individual with unique social, physical, emotional,
and intellectual needs.
4. Students learn in different ways and should be provided with a variety of
instructional approaches to support their learning.
5. Students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process.
6. A safe and physically comfortable environment that promotes student learning.
7. The staff at Matheson Junior High recognizes the importance of teaching the
five values recommended by the Community of Caring and support them by advising,
discussing and modeling the appropriate behaviors.
8. A student’s self-esteem is enhanced by positive relationships and mutual
respect among and between students and staff.
9. Alternative programs are an integral part of Matheson Junior High, and are
necessary in order to meet the needs of all students.
10. The commitment to continuous improvement is imperative if our school is going
to enable students to become confident, self-directed, lifelong learners.
11. Teachers, administrators, parents and the community share the responsibility
for advancing the school’s mission.
