NOTES "What is Matter?"

What is Matter? Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space.
List 10 examples:

Properties
Matter can be identified by characteristic properties. These are properties that never change for a substance, and so can be used to identify an unknown substance.
Examples: boiling point and melting point, hardness, texture…

Matter can be organized in several ways….
By state:
By type of matter:
Elements
The simplest form of matter—cannot be broken down by physical or chemical means.
Compounds
Two or more elements chemically combined.
Mixtures
A mixture is made of two or more substances—elements, compounds, or both—that are together in the same place but are not chemically combined.
