Participation points for Mr. Smedberg's class.
It is essential that every student learn the basic skills of successful group activity. Acting as an individual, a student needs to learn exhibit his or her individuality in ways that enhance and accomplish the goals of the class or group with which he/she is assigned. This requires that each person show respect for all others they are associated with (including the teacher) and that they demonstrate active cooperation with members of the group or class in accomplishing the tasks and goals that are outlined by the teacher. Classrooms are places where people come to collaborate. This means "to work together especially on work of an intellectual nature" (Webster's dictionary). The some skills that are needed in the classroom are: Reading, Listening, Viewing, Summarizing, Writing, Note taking, Memorizing, Testing, Discussion, Analyzing, Sharing and Cooperation in group efforts. The active display of these skills in cooperation with these goals is called PARTICIPATION.
The student's grade on this assignment of how well the student displays these skills in our classroom activities and classwork.
