Hi! I'm your counselor, Carol Goulais. I have lived most of my life in Salt lake city area, graduating from Murray High school Yay, Spartans! I have also lived in Virginia and in Texas, during the Viet Nam war, and in Grenoble, France, while I was college. Of course I attended BOTH BYU and the U of U, graduating from the "U". I taught french and English for 14 years at Kennedy Junior High school. Those were happy years - and then I came to West Lake JHS in 1995.

The students at West Lake are the smartest, best looking, most talented and fun kids in the world. I have four children-Matt, Jennifer, Amanda and Allison. I also have one adorable granddaughter, Caitlin 4 years old. I love music - I love to sing (in groups) and play the piano. I also like scrapbooking and decorating my house for the hoildays.

This year at West Lake we have a fun after school program for our students. I have a grant program , VISION 2020, which sponcers the Dance and Drill teams, an Arts and Crafts class, some of the sports and recreation classes and study help in any subject that you need. With Gear Up and Title I, we are working to help our students have lots to do-both learning and having fun.

Summer is coming and we'll keep things rocking all summer long. If you have failed al classes, or want to get ahead for 9th grade, we have classes for you this summer. We will also have lots of help in reading and math, and a field trip every week. We want your ideas about how to make school better for everyone. If you know if you have a good idea for something fun to do, come pm down to the Counseling Center and let us know. You can also write a SECRET suggestion and slip it under my door.

The teachers at West Lake amaze me with their dedication and expert control of their classes. Most of all I am impressed with the great love that they pour out upon our children. My goal is for West lake to be like Mother Teresa's home for children: " Let no harsh word be spoken to a child in this place." Partents - please come and be part of our school. If you know how to sew or paint or any other talent, let us know. If you would like to come and have lunch with us at school, or help hurry the kids on time to their classes, we would love your help. Give us a call at 646-5255 and we'll sign you up.
