It gives us the power to question, to confront, to explore, and to challenge how we think about the world.\u201d -Lucy Liu<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Fine Arts Core Curriculum places emphasis on creating, performing, presenting, producing, responding, and connecting.&nbsp;&nbsp; In Granite School District teachers use curriculum maps, benchmarks, and benchmark assessments that are based on the Utah State Core Standards for Dance, Theatre, and Visual Arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.graniteschools.org\/curriculuminstruction\/curriculum-maps\/\">Granite District Fine Arts Curriculum Maps<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.schools.utah.gov\/curr\/finearts\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Utah State Board of Education Fine Arts Website<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students have many opportunities to perform, present, and produce works of art in each of these areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Visual Art<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Students have many opportunities to share their art work in Granite School District. Many schools have art shows each year. We also have a Granite School District Junior High Art Show and a Granite School District High School Art Show each year. These exhibitions run for one week each and are in April in the GEC\u2019s auditorium. It is always exciting to see what our teachers have taught and the creativity expressed by students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Granite Art Olympics<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are also very fortunate to have the Granite Education Foundation work in partnership with Curriculum and Instruction to sponsor the ART OLYMPICS.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is a competition for our high school art students where students compete and create a work of art in 4 hours. We have outstanding artists, who come and mentor the student artists, and also serve as judges. Students are given art supplies and winners receive cash awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">District Arts Calendar 2026-2027<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">View the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.graniteschools.org\/arts\/calendar\">District Fine Arts events calendar<\/a> for the new school year.
