First-grader publishes book about overcoming fears

September 2013Granite Schools

With the help of some creative and dedicated individuals, a first grade student has accomplished a rare feat: publishing his own story.

Nathan Glad, a first grade student at Westbrook Elementary, co-wrote a book with Dallas Graham, the founder of the Red Fred Project – a collaborative nonprofit to help children with critical illnesses publish stories.

Nathan participated in a book-signing event in downtown Salt Lake City that officially launched the Red Fred Project’s Kickstarter Campaign to publish 50 books written by 50 children throughout the US.

A copy of the book is on display in Westbrook Elementary’s library.

Wow! This is fantastic! How can I, as a local parent share this information or give any assistance in getting this information out, to allow others to share, give and inspire others towards this project?

How exciting for him to get published. I would love to read his story. Maybe someone can turn it into an ebook for us who would like to read it.

I would like to read it also. An ebook is a great idea.
