Senior Bloggers – Ditch the stress

September 2013Granite Schools

This post comes to us from Olympus High Senior Blogger Ellen S.

Ditch the Stress: 7 Steps

We’ve been in school for a couple of weeks now so I think it’s safe to say that stress is beginning to hit us all; and hard. At least, that’s how I feel. Am I the only one? Okay, well, whether you are or not this will hopefully help you in the near future when the time comes to be stressed. The times when you procrastinate writing your English paper on “The Great Gatsby” until 11:30, and end up finishing somewhere around 2 a.m. Yeah, that’s right, you know what I’m talking about. These are for when those awful moments of restlessness come into play.

1. Take Deep Breaths

Sounds silly, I know, but it really does help; a lot. Inhale and exhale deep breaths until you start to finally feel calmed down. Just relax and remember that it’s not the end of the world!

2. Exercise.

Go get out all of your frustration and go work out! Not only will you feel calmer but you will also feel better about yourself. Take out all of that stress/anger and put it to good use. Use it as motivation to get up, get moving and work hard. I know it always works for me.

3.Go to Bed Earlier

Sleep is so important so make sure you get some good rest! I know in this day and age it’s super hard because of all the homework, late night Netflix watching, social media, and the obvious reason…you just can’t sleep. Well, regardless of all of these distractions I know that when you get a good night’s sleep you feel SO much better! So ya, get some good rest. It’ll make all the difference.

4. Think About All Of The Good Things

It may be a bad day full of stress, but guess what: that’s all it is; nothing else but a bad day. So remember to reminisce about all the GOOD things you have going for you! Think about how you have such a GOOD life and be thankful for that. Talk about your joys rather than your hardships.

5. Ask For A Hug

Don’t ask questions just do it. Hug it out. Haha, you think I’m kidding but I’m dead serious. Hugs are one of my favorite things and with just one hug you feel a million times better than you did before. So just hug it out and I promise it’ll help. So just go ahead and give someone a hug lol.

6. Focus On What You Can Control

It’s simple. Okay, maybe not. It’s probably easier said than done, but still. If you’re stressed about something that can be changed then focus on the steps that will help you solve whatever issue that’s stressing you out. Simply focus on everything that you can change. Don’t just sit there hoping your problem will solve itself all on it’s own. Go out and do something about it! You have the power to change anything that you have control of.

7. Just because I felt weird ending on 6

Stress less and I promise things will be fine. Just ditch the stress and enjoy the moment because stress is so unnecessary, and your life will be so much better without it. So say bye bye to stress and come join the party!
