If you had held a decibel meter in your hand during the Friday morning assembly at Diamond Ridge Elementary, the reading would have been off the charts.
The multipurpose room rang loud with student cheers as twenty teachers received gift cards from a nearby Walmart to purchase classroom supplies. The winning teachers were selected at random earlier in the week, and their names were read one-by-one as they hopped on stage to collect the prize.
Additionally, students learned about a new teacher recognition program in which two educators are chosen by students, staff or parents to wear or display bright red capes during an entire week.
