Oakwood Elementary fifth grade teacher Mat Crandall is using the latest trends in technology to his advantage in the classroom.
His goal is to get his students to use technology to complete their assignments and show creativity in the process. Not only is this method of teaching proving to be effective, the students are finding greater satisfaction by participating in class.
Recently, Mr. Crandall’s students completed their own podcast book report on a famous explorer. Once recorded and edited, the students had to create a QR code, which Mr. Crandall would scan to listen to the podcasts and provide feedback to students.
This creative process inspired one of his students, who usually does not complete work, to turn in an outstanding and well prepared podcast book report.
