Administrators and teachers at Oakwood Elementary would most likely use the words “outstanding student” when describing sixth-grader Jacob Rosvall.
It’s not the fact that Jacob is a math whiz or that he is a member of the Oakwood Safety Patrol; he’s an outstanding student for his dedication to his responsibilities.
Some weeks ago Jacob was manning his post at a crosswalk in front of the school when he noticed that one vehicle was moving into the crosswalk area without stopping.
After attempting to wave his orange flag to get the driver’s attention, Jacob reacted quickly and pulled a younger student out of the crosswalk, avoiding a potentially serious accident.
In recognition of his admirable efforts, Jacob was recognized by the Holladay Chamber of Commerce in front of Oakwood administrators, his family, and about 40 community members.
