Red Ribbon Week at West Kearns Elementary had all the sights you’d hope to see during the drug-free awareness campaign, with a few exciting exceptions.
During the week, West Kearns students and staff collected donations to help purchase a bulletproof vest for the Unified Police Department’s newest narcotics dog, Loki. The school raised $1,000 in total, which will go a long way in buying vest, which has a $3,000 price tag.
As a way of thanking the students, Loki and two Unified Police officers visited the students and performed some impressive police dog techniques.
