Hunter Elementary students took advantage of Veterans Day to celebrate some local lifesavers in addition to those who have served at home and abroad in the armed forces.
The aptly named Hero Assembly paid tribute to veterans, police officers, firefighters, and medical personnel through songs and slide shows. Several Hunter teachers shared personal stories of veterans and other heroes in their own lives.
“It is our hope that this assembly will inspire the faculty and students to be better citizens and students by demonstrating a greater respect for their country and freedom,” said Hunter principal Natalie Hansen.
Like many schools in the district, Hunter Elementary students also took Veterans Day to heart by writing personal letters to active service men and women.
