The Absolutely Incredible Kid Contest

December 2013Granite Schools

AIK2-01

Here in Granite School District there are countless students who overcome daily challenges in their pursuit of quality education.

Some are bogged down with family or financial burdens. Others face physical challenges, or carry heavy emotional baggage with them to school. Yet time and time again, Granite students demonstrate perseverance and strong determination in the wake of personal and environmental struggles.

The Absolutely Incredible Kid Contest is opportunity for teachers, administrators, parents, and peers to recognize those students who have transformed difficult situations into academic success.

WOW, this school never ceases to amaze me…..Are they not all absolutely incredible kids???? And they should be every day. A contest for this??? Very petty and ridiculous. All the kids are winners, and there should not be competitions or contests to have to prove such. So how do you decide who should be chosen? So one individual has been the one that has struggled the hardest? Logic would say it would be impossible to narrow it down to one student.

Correct on all accounts, but the recognition helps kids who are struggling recognize the importance of persistence and on some small front, helps the recognized student understand that their tremendous efforts are not in vain or unnoticed. If we can change the life of just one student…

The power of positivity never ceases to amaze me. Thanks for coming up with another way to recognize the effort, the achievement of students. It is all part of building a culture of achievement in our schools! People tend to hold the values of the majority, school culture goes along way to influence our kid’s behavior. Way to go GSD!
