Career and Technical Education (CTE) specialist Sandra Hemmert was awarded the 2014 Carl Perkins Outstanding Service Award by The Association for Career and Technical Education.
Sandra was officially recognized at the ACTE national conference in front of scores of career and technical education professionals.
In a press release issued by the Association in August, Sandra’s daily efforts as a CTE coordinator were credited as bringing Utah’s CTE programs into the spotlight.
“She has helped secure multi-million-dollar grants for the growth of CTE, firmly placing Granite District’s CTE programs in the state’s Administrator Onboarding pipeline.”
Furthermore, Hemmert received plaudits for reinventing CTE programs to focus on high-demand industries, and for pioneering initiatives that serve disabled young adults and dropouts.
“In her 34 years in the education field, Hemmert has played an important role in developing modern and effective CTE programs that meet students’ needs.”
