Despite the biting chill in the air at This Is The Place Heritage Park, students from Upland Terrace and Crestview elementary schools never let their voices extinguish nor their smiles drop with the temperature.
With bright lanterns in hand, the students lit up the hearts of visitors at the St. Martin’s Day Lantern Parade and “Christkindlmarkt” German holiday market. As on-looking families huddled near fires the children gathered together to sing familiar songs and listen to the traditional tale of St. Martin.
The event has become somewhat of a tradition for several Granite Schools during this season.
Skyline High, Churchill Junior High, and Bonneville Junior High schools also played a part in the event through service activities and coat drives.
JaNeanne Dazley says
Thank you to all of the schools who participated. Driggs elementary also hosted a shoe drive prior to the event. I was so impressed with the students and their willingness to serve and participate in this event. A lot of good things happened because of their efforts and a lot of people were helped. All of the schools that participated should be commended for their positive attitudes and their generous spirit.
