Students at Cottonwood High School l let their voices be heard, their dance moves be seen, and their antics displayed all in the name of charity.
As part of the school’s efforts to raise funds for the Volunteers of America Homeless Youth Resource Center, Cottonwood put on an unofficial talent show where students contributed money in support of their favorite peer act.
Duets sang melodious tunes, dancers wowed the crowd, student body officers were auctioned off for dates, and an all-male drill team performed a number to the amused embarrassment of faculty members.
Between each performance members of student government walked the aisles with small buckets to collect cash contributions, which totalled more than $2,000. In response to the success of the assembly, Cottonwood High math teacher Rita Heagren agreed to shave her head in front of the student body.
Subsequent activities throughout the day also pushed Cottonwood toward their goal of raising $10,000 for the Center before winter break.
