Granite School District’s Preschool Services has been nominated by Open Minds USA for the organization’s national Opening Minds Innovation Awards.
The award honors individuals and organizations throughout the nation whose innovations advance the field of early childhood care and education. Granite is among ten finalists selected from thousands of nominations across the country.
During the summer of 2013, the Salt Lake County Council approved a public/private partnership social impact bond to expand Granite’s preschool services to 600 disadvantaged children. The expansion is designed to significantly decrease costs associated with remedial programs for students who are not prepared for the rigors of school.
The winner will be announced during the Opening Minds 2014 Conference on January 31.
