I would prefer option B. Option A just starts too soon in august. Thanks – Debby Bierman

I really dislike when school starts in the middle of the week. Option b makes much more sense.

How can we get the school year to run Labor Day to Memorial Day? How can I be on this planning committee?

I was skeptical of the school year starting on a Wednesday like it did this year, but my children and I ended up really liking it because it allowed us to ease into our school schedule. That short first week of school provided a nice transition from summer schedules to school schedules. I am voting for Option A.

For families that are involved with any school activity such as debate, student government, or a number of sports for girls and boys, it makes sense to begin school on Wednesday, August 19th. Starting school in the middle of the week seems like if would give the students a couple of days to adjust back into school with a little less pressure. Also, to end the year before a long weekend, makes that weekend much more relaxed. Besides, I feel like that last week in June has been a week that little work is done in the classroom and no one wants to be at school.
I would prefer Option A.

Please do away with the elementary early out days before ANY FULL day off. These are ridiculous and a burden for working parents. Friday should be the ONLY early out days.
I also think we should go back to Labor Day to Memorial Day – It worked 20 plus years ago..why not now?
I have listed my other concerns and comments on my survey.

It would be so nice to always know the start date. No checking calendars for start and ending dates EVERY SINGLE YEAR. I would love the start date to be the Tuesday after Labor Day. Period. Families would always know that they had the full month of August. Let the June ending date be flexible.

I am a big supporter of Option B since the weather in August tends to be the best of the entire year (predictably better than June weather) and also to keep us from moving slowly toward a “year-round” school schedule. Please let us parents keep our summers with our kids!
