A team of chess aficionados from Kearns Junior High took the top spot in a competition that pitted them against middle and secondary schools from Utah and Idaho.
The KJHS team scored a total of 10 points in Entheos Chess Invitational, edging out contenders from middle schools, high schools, charter schools, and private schools.
āIām very proud of our team, and we hope to continue to prepare for the state tournament on March 7,ā said Kearns Jr. Spansih teacher Brandon Kerby.
