Granite Park Junior High students received some sound advice from former NFL players Luther Elliss and Mark Koncar during a recent assembly that underlined the importance of nutrition for school and sports.
The event was part of the “Success Starts with Breakfast” initiative sponsored by the Dairy Council of Utah & Nevada. The program coordinates various celebrations to bring awareness to the proven link between breakfast and improved academic performance.
Elliss and Koncar shared stories of their NFL careers along with messages of encouragement to the students. The presence of the former athletes gave credence to the program’s mission of empowering students to choose healthy habits, such as taking advantage of breakfast and lunch options at school.
The assembly wrapped up with a “milk mustache” contest.
