High school winter sports wrapped up last week with state basketball tournaments, and our GSD athletes displayed thrilling talent on the court.
Girls
Skyline pulled off several upset victories on their way to the 4A State Championship. The Lady Eagles fell by just two points to Springville in the final match of the tournament.
In 5A, the teams from Taylorsville, Granger, Hunter, and Cottonwood all qualified for the state tournament. All four teams displayed impressive talent against some of the best opponents in the state.
Boys
Kearns, Olympus and Skyline entered the 4A state tournament following successful region play. Olympus played their way to the semifinals, falling to eventual state champion Bountiful. Kearns’ superb run was cut short by eventual state runner-up Orem.
Taylorsville and Hunter qualified for the state 5A tournament after finishing at the top of Region 2.
Congratulations to all of our basketball teams for a great season.
