Dierdri Farr has been nominated many times and frequently loses out to elementary teachers who have more latitude for fun and engaging activities than high school teachers enjoy. I took her AP European history class in 1994-1995. She was nominated then but did not win because the panel wanted more flash. Her Madame Diderot’s Salon was fun and educational. I had the privilege of dressing as Madame Diderot and directing the discussions. Her syllabus was super-comprehensive and was just as instrumental to helping me pass the AP exam as the textbook. Ms. Farr has catchy themes for history such as “Bismarck: Brilliant or Butthead” which I still remember today. After twenty years of quality classroom experience, it is time she received her dues! Skyline High and the Granite School District are lucky to have her.
