April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. All throughout the state bright blue pinwheels are showing up on grassy areas as a symbol of a happy, joyful childhood for every kid.
At Carl Sandburg Elementary, the Pinwheel Parade has become a tradition for students, teachers and families to show support for child abuse prevention strategies. Each student is given a blue pinwheel and all participants walk a lap around the school before planting the pinwheels in the ground.
Sandburg’s pinwheel garden is one of many displays in several communities within Granite School District boundaries.
