April 21 – 25, 2014, is Administrative Professionals Week here in Granite School District. It’s a time to recognize the vital contributions of office personnel in schools and district departments.
Recently the Granite Association of Educational Office Professionals (GAEOP) commemorated the event with their annual Evening of Recognition celebration. This year’s recipients include:
Karen Bowden – Principal Secretary at West Lake Jr. High
Karen was named the 2013-2014 Office Professional of the Year. “Karen is the consummate professional in every sense of the word, especially in office management, leadership, public relations, and school knowledge.”
Brenda Van Gorder – Director of Preschool Services
Brenda was awarded the 2013-2014 Administrator of the Year. “Brenda is a leader in her field; doing more for the preschool children of Utah than any other person.”
Stephanie Matsamas – Lunch Clerk at Carl Sandburg Elementary
Stephanie was named the 2013-2014 Part-Time Office Professional of the Year. “Stephanie has been active in the community as PTA president, co-chair of the Reflections program, and assisting with Mill Hollow and the science fair.”
Jana Klein – Secretary for the Communications Office
Jana is the recipient of Granite Education Foundation’s C.A.R.E. (Celebrate Achievement, Reward Excellence) Award. The award recognizes and encourages outstanding performance in the workplace.
Amanda Brenchley, a senior at Taylorsville High School, was named the 2013-2014 Helen P. Metos Student Scholar
Amy Torres, bookkeeper at Kearns Jr. High was awarded with the 2013-2014 Winona Fullmer Scholarship.
