Powerful wind gusts and cloudy skies had students and teachers at Jim Bridger Elementary a little worried; it wasn’t exactly the ideal weather for planting a tree.
But when the moment arrived to place the sapling in its new home, the weather shifted and provided some relief from the otherwise stormy morning. Perhaps it was thanks to the sudden arrival Captain Planet on the scene.
Like many schools in the district, Jim Bridger Elementary took Earth Day to heart by showing their love for all things green. Thanks to Harmon’s Grocery, the school was able to add to their existing collection of trees scattered across the grounds.
Over at Diamond Ridge Elementary, third-graders donned blue and green tie-dyed shirts and sung multiple numbers about ecology, conservation, and nature to student and parent audiences.
To quote the famous Spanish playwright Pedro Calderón de la Barca:
“Green is the prime color of the world, and that from which its loveliness arises.”
