Annette Taggart diligently carried out her substitute teacher responsibilities at Gearld Wright Elementary, like she always does. Little did she know that the “secret assembly” in the multipurpose room that day turned out to be all about her.
Annette was the winner of the KSL/Zions Bank Teacher Feature grand prize – an award given to one of the many educators selected each week to be recognized. Her initial Teacher Feature award came back in March while she was substituting at Whittier Elementary.
She received a 2-year lease on a new car provided by Burt Brothers Tire & Service. Upon being handed the keys, she took a victory lap around the school’s black top in front of cheering students.
Below is a snippet of Annette’s original nomination.
“Schools cannot function without subs, when teachers are sick or cannot be there for any reason, it is so important to have good subs. Annette is dedicated to helping children learn and she has worked in the Granite School District for 7 years.”
“All of the children just adore her. She definitely makes a difference and helps her students learn, grow, and interact with each other in a positive way.”
