Dedication and hard work in Taylorsville High School’s newsroom has paid off yet again for the Warrior newspaper staff.
The Warrior Ledger won first place recognition in the American Scholastic Press Association’s 2013-2014 Scholastic Newspaper Awards. Only 145 publications from universities, colleges and high schools nationwide received the award.
The Ledger also received the Outstanding Overall Photography award, which was only given to one publication in the country this year.
“It’s a huge recognition of all the hard work these students put into the paper every month,” said Taylorsville journalism advisor Stephanie Floch.
This isn’t the first time the Taylorsville monthly newspaper has received attention. Previous accolades for the publication include: an All-American Award by the National Scholastic Press Association, a ninth place finish at the National High School Journalism Convention, and being named the best high school newspaper in the state by the Utah Press Association.
