Thirty-six high school seniors, including five from Granite School District, received scholarships from Comcast Wednesday for their exceptional leadership qualities and academic achievement.

The annual Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program recognizes students who have demonstrated leadership in the classroom and in the community throughout their time in school.

Four of the students – Gisela Arellano of Granger, Giovanni Giannoni Lima of Cyprus, Hannah Hoj of Olympus, and Jasey Wyatt of Taylorsville – were each given $1,000 to go toward their college education. John Vo of Skyline was given this year’s top prize: a $10,000 scholarship.

Each awardee was honored during a luncheon at the Utah State Capitol, where they were recognized by state leaders and local media.
