In the week leading up to Patriot Day, students and teachers at Howard Driggs Elementary took time to send their appreciation to some of Utah’s veterans.
Each student wrote and drew personalized ‘thank you’ cards to war veterans in a show of gratitude for those who had served and sacrificed.
Driggs Elementary principal Michael Douglas had the privilege of delivering the letters and cards to William E. Christoffersen Salt Lake Veterans Home.
“Vets and staff were deeply touched to receive hundreds of letters and cards,” Douglas said.
One student wrote, “I am a second grade student at Howard R. Driggs Elementary School, and I want to thank you for serving our country. I hope that when I am big I can be as brave as you.”
