School staff and students at Mill Creek Elementary were happy to help their friends at St. Mark’s Hospital with some dramatic training exercises last week.
As part of a mock disaster drill, students in Mrs. Sorensen’s fifth grade class feigned injuries from a fictional Halloween chemistry demonstration gone awry. Emergency personnel then acted out procedures for treating the students and securing the area.
The acting students received mock treatment on site and were transported to St. Mark’s Hospital, where doctors and nurses continued the drill.
These drills assist first responders and school staff be better prepared in the event of a real emergency.
