Students at Olympus High School took up a new clothing trend last week – one that showcases the personality of someone other than the wearer.
During an a recent assembly, a committee of the Olympus High PTSA facilitated an exchange of specialized t-shirts as part of the school’s “Swap A Heart” project. The plan was carried out in English classes leading up to the main assembly.
Each student was asked to write a letter about him or herself and include what dreams, passions, and aspirations they have for the future. Additionally, students received a t-shirt to decorate in a way that best represents their personality and interests.
The letters were then placed in envelopes and attached to the shirt that corresponds with each student. During last week’s assembly, each student randomly received another student’s shirt along with the handwritten letters.
Students were asked to wear their new shirt to school the following day and seek out the original artist. The Olympus High PTSA committee hopes the project will foster more friendships and greater understanding as students seek out previously unknown strangers.
