Students and staff at West Kearns Elementary were eager to dress like their favorite superheroes Friday, but there was another aspect of the day that took precedence.
As part of the school’s Red Ribbon Week, West Kearns staff invited students to submit nomination letters about their own personal heroes. Staff members then selected a few of the nominees to come to the school on Friday to be recognized in front of the entire student body.
Among the heroes were siblings, parents, grandparents, doctors, and other mentors who have had a profound impact on the lives of West Kearns students. These individuals demonstrate dedication to their families and their vocation on a daily basis.
The students also showed their own heroic attributes by presenting a check for more than $3,000 to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
