For most of us, a computer crash is one of the most frustrating things we encounter. But for a group of students at Hunter High, technology glitches are a welcome challenge.
Those who witnessed Hunter’s annual Fastest Geeks competition last week were amazed at the level of expertise displayed by teens who have yet to graduate high school.
This yearly competition pits students in a race to identify and fix a problem in a desktop computer that prevents it from booting properly. The winners in the two matches – one for each lunch period – were able to get their machines up and running in a matter of minutes.
Along with prizes for the winners and runners up, each participant got to keep the computer they worked on.
