In an effort to help students better understand Chinese culture, the University of Utah’s Confucius Institute has awarded the state’s first Confucius Classroom grant to Spring Lane Elementary.
The grant will be used for a variety of initiatives and programs to further educate Dual Immersion and traditional classroom students about China.
Representatives from the Confucius Institute and other invited guests visited Spring Lane this week to celebrate the announcement, and were favored with Chinese musical performances from students in all Dual Immersion grades.
Spring Lane is one of two schools (the other being Calvin Smith Elementary) to house Chinese Dual Immersion classrooms in Granite School District.
