One of the District’s outstanding foreign language educators has received the oldest non-military French decoration for her service.
Kaye Murdock was named to the Ordre des Palmes Académiques (Order of the French Academic Palms) by French Consul General Pauline Carmona. The recognition is for those who have “rendered eminent service to French education and have contributed actively to the prestige of French culture.”
Kaye is currently the curriculum specialist for French Dual Immersion in the District.
In addition to Kaye’s award, the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs granted LabelFrancÉducation seals to Diamond Ridge Elementary and Morningside Elementary, the two schools that offer French Dual Immersion in Granite. The award recognizes schools that offer enhanced instruction in the French language while also teaching other subjects in French. Since 2012, 56 schools worldwide have received the seal.
Félicitations!
