Alyssa Bowman’s framed watercolor painting “Capitol Hill” will have an enduring legacy inside the very building depicted on the canvas.
As the first place winner of the Senate Visual Arts Scholarship Competition, Alyssa’s remarkable painting will have a permanent place in the Utah Senate suite. As an added bonus, she received a $5,000 Utah Education Savings Plan scholarship.
The competition began last year when students were invited by the Senate to submit art work with images of the Utah State Capitol in “celebration of Utah’s beautiful Capitol building and in salute to the Utah Legislature working on behalf of Utah citizens.”
In addition to Alyssa’s first place painting, two other GSD students received honorable mentions in the competition:
Jessica Findlay – Cottonwood High School
Rebekah Ji Won Moon – Skyline High School
